Automobile Accident
Road traffic accident causing severe injury to the left arm! A 54-year-old patient, victim of an automobile accident on BR 381 (highway of death) with an extremely serious left arm injury. He was transported with a helicopter to a nearby hospital and taken immediately to the operating room. The pulsating vessel on the second slide is his axillary artery, which was luckily undamaged. The wound was greatly contaminated and full of debris so thorough cleaning and debridement was performed as seen on the third picture. On closer inspection they found a lacerated radial nerve and a comminuted humeral fracture. Shortening of the humerus by 2 cm followed by external fixation and repair of the radial nerve was performed.ㅤ  ·  ·  ·  ·  ·  · |
