My son tipped an ATV with a roll cage. He tried to catch himself, and ended up dislocating his elbow. Miraculously, he only had a small fracture on the inside of his elbow. The hospital reset his elbow, placed it in a soft cast and told us to follow up in two weeks.
When I say that after a few days the cast started to smell so badly.. we changed out as much as we could with no success of getting the smell gone. I couldn’t figure it out. Turns out, the bar of the roll cage had come down and crushed his arm resulting in a crush injury that sat and festered the entire time we were waiting to follow up. He is now left with a crazy scar and permanent tissue loss along with limited movement in his arm due to the inability to heal the fracture normally.

How did the hospital not catch that? Sounds like a lawsuit to me.

Looking at arm abrasion in photo #1 and the infection that emerges later after casting - I would wonder if he developed a bacterial or fungal skin infection for which the source of contact was the soil/ground.
