I have seen an injury very similar to this one. (the hand not the dog tongue) It was caused by a carrot slicer at a vegetable packing plant. The blades are round, evenly spaced and VERY sharp. Employees stand in front of a conveyer belt and line the carrots up so they hit the blades the right way. If the guard is removed or it is not low enough a hand could get caught and cut up just like this.
