Anti personnel mines, horrible things, and there are many millions of them still floating around in dozens of countries round the world. Cheap as chips, many are the size of a cigarette pack, they can be chucked out of the back of an airplane in bulk, and last for decades.  |

Unfortunately not. They are designed to maim and cripple, not kill, and thus tie up medical resources and personal, in treatment and evacuation.
