It's amazing how the body can accomodate for a part that is damaged; since he is missing part of his brain, the rest will take over and compensate for what the other part is supposed to do. It may not be perfect and he may not fully regain everything he had or could do before, but it's enough to keep him alive and get him through life as best he can. Our bodies are amazing, mysterious, complicated wonders!
