A baby girl is recovering after doctors at a Florida hospital successfully removed a tumour which was a third the weight of her body from her neck.
Born on July 11, Peyton Marie Kirby's benign tumour was caused by a lymph blood vessel malformation that had dangerously entwined with nerves and arteries.



It was around the size of her head and weighed around 33% of her 8lb 15oz body weight.
Little Peyton underwent a 14-hour operation at Wolfson Children's Hospital in Jacksonville.



According to the hospital, mother Tiffany Kirby gave birth via Caesarean section after an ultrasound at the 21st week of her pregnancy revealed the mass growing on the baby's neck.
An obstetrician identified it as a cystic hygroma.
But despite its close proximity to the baby's heart, doctors decided the child needed to grow before it could be removed.
Doctors said she is now healthy, although she does have weakness on her right side caused by nerve and muscle damage.
She is expected to undergo physical therapy and minor surgery to reduce her scar and the hollow look the surgery left on her neck.
