That's exactly what I was thinking, there are plenty of diseases out there that tend to be more prevalent among certain sexes/races/geographic areas (Tay-Sachs, Sickle Cell, hemophilia, Familial Mediterranean Fever), but yeah, it seems like Slovakia and the DR don't exactly seem like they'd have much in common, population-wise....
