African Hunt for Albino Body Part's
Persecution of people with albinism is based on the belief that certain body parts of albinistic people transmit magical powers. This superstition, which is present in some parts of East Africa, has been promulgated and exploited by witch doctors and others who use such body parts as ingredients in rituals, concoctions and potions with the claim that their magic will bring prosperity to the user ("muti" or medicine murder). As a result, people with albinism have been persecuted, killed and dismembered, and graves of albinos dug up and desecrated. At the same time, people with albinism have also been ostracised and even killed for exactly the opposite reason, because they are presumed to be cursed and bring bad luck Here is a shot docu about this & some pics of African-Albino people who are dismembered More info: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Persecu..._with_albinism http://observers.france24.com/conten...eroon-tanzania http://abcnews.go.com/2020/africans-...2#.T9d4XdUtiSo http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worl...in-Africa.html |

Re: African Hunt for Albino Body Part's
I am so glad Johnny and Edgar Winter were born in Texas and are still around performing! $250 for a body part?! Sad! I guess these in these countries these stories are like our old wives' tales, but, I know of none in the US about killing people because they are different for luck, thank goodness! A few of the above males look like Prince Harry no matter what the hair color. |

Re: African Hunt for Albino Body Part's
Thanks for sharing this. Very sad though interesting reading. Glad to see that a court in Tanzania has sentenced three men to death by hanging for killing a 14-year-old albino boy: that's definitely an effective way to prevent them from doing it again. |
