Aerosol Can Blows Up In Hand
This looks to have happened around November 2014. A 26yo dentist sustained a rather nasty hand injury after an aerosol can blew up as she was holding it. It happened at the entrance of a beauty salon in Brazil. "The spray did not explode because of the heat," she stated. According to a spokesperson of the company: "All aerosol cans are manufactured under strict care and obeying of specific technical standards. In addition, they are tested one by one before put on sale, when they pass through a bath at 50oC on the production line ". After the explosion, the dentist was taken to the Emergency Room and underwent surgery. She had a fractured thumb and index finger, and deep cuts in her palm.        |

First thing I thought.. Superman ain't so super no more.. When I worked food service, were a few times that I popped a few aerosol cans. One time I was cooking/slinging etc. in a high volume situation.. A can of food release spray ended up in my hand/utility sink behind me at the grill, was cutting something at the counter and needed to wash my knife but didn't get chance to, quick-like tossed the knife in the sink to wash it later.. POP!! SIIIIIZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!!!!!! That must of been some hardcore chemical in the can to cause that damage.. The food release spray which is just basically compressed air/grease. (Pam spray, etc.) just was a noisy hissy mess of grease...  |
