The cecum is a pouch within the peritoneum that is considered to be the beginning of the large intestine. It is typically located on the right side of the body (the same side of the body as the appendix, to which it is joined). The word cecum (/ˈsiːkəm/, plural ceca /ˈsiːkə/) stems from the Latin caecus meaning blind. In this case an ulcer/tumor growth inside the pouch caused the intestinal obstruction. |

This condition being treated here is called intussuception. It's not a tumor or growth---rather, it's basically the bowel telescopes into itself. It hurts bad and it can kill the patient if it's not discovered and repaired in time.  |

So are they removing part of the bowel? Do you think she is only getting localized anesthesia? It looked like they finally cut her open to relieve some of the pressure, Isn't that an absolute no-no with bowel surgery? Im asking bc it seems like you know something about something....
