This is my first post (on girlfriend's behalf, It's her account).
Here are some picture's of an accident I had at work. back in 2008. And here's the story.
I used to work for a Flexographic Printing company, My job was Production Assistant, I would run the print finishing machines, run the print presses and load/unload the trucks when necessary.
Was a pretty average day, cold and raining. Felt like shit when I got in.
Started setting up the press for a Yellow Label job that had to be run. Job size was about 80,000 meter's. So all going fine and well then. Setup was good, was getting a nice varnish on the label. Set the die cut up and away I went.
Flagged off the paper reel and started cranking the speed of the press up... Hit about 4,500 meters per minute then noticed a black smudge appear on the label. Not good.
Slowed press down to about 3,000 meters per minute and got some press-room cleaner on a rag and started cleaning off the print plate/impression rollers, Said smudge is still there... Doh.
So again I grab some press-room cleaner and a rag then started rubbing down the Anilox Roller.

Felt a little tug on the rag, went to pull finger out but it was too late.
The rag got caught on the drive gear which then pulled my finger though a 2mm gap, on the top and bottom of this gap there are 2 rollers that turn into the machine. (One spins anti-clockwise, the other turns clockwise).

If you wind through to 0:48, you see an Impression Roller with a Print Plate attached to it, A Black Roller with the Ink running off, That's the Anilox Roller. (You also see the Web running in towards the press.) Well, that gap is where my finger went.

Well, the roller's managed to shred off the Nail, Nail bed, Finger pad, Flesh, Everything!
It's healed with a few scars covering the finger, Have no feeling in the finger tip, isn't really flexible.
The worst bit was when I went back to the work after going to accident and emergency and they found the skin with nail still attached in the press.
Honestly, It didnt hurt that much. I guess I was pumped with Adrenaline and Shock when it happened. Didn't pass out or throw up either!
The operation I had was a "Thermo-Flap". Basically the finger is sown into the base of the thumb to allow the flesh/skin to regrow.
You can also see where the skin and flesh started to rot part-way through healing.
Now that was a BAD smell

I bet your mother was PISSED at you! You need to be more careful! That's far scarier than what most people consider to be horror, to me. I think horror movies are, actually, funny. But, man! OOOOOOUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dude you were very lucky.
I have seen simular things happen in a machine shop I worked in years ago and the people in those accident lost multiple fingers.
Great first post though.
Please feel free to post more in the future just don't feel like you have to be the actual victim in all of them though LOL.
