Sometime, I wish to be cut in the stomach like this too. I want to know the feeling but I don't want to die.

Um, I don't think that's where that tool is supposed to go. Someone needs to read the manual...

Re: An Accident with a Disc Cutter

He certainly created this problem on his own. He has removed the guard completely and then installed a radial saw blade instead of the normal grinding disk. The tool was never designed for this type of use. There are reasons grinders come with instructions. And this is one good reason to pay attention to those instructions. Never modify power tools to work in a way they were not intended to be used. Or do so at your own risk.
A guy at work took a large pencil grinder and attached a cutting wheel. Then he compounded his error by removing the guard. Also he was not wearing safety glasses under his welding hood. He was looking through a clear cover lens to cut a small piece of steel. The cover lens is NOT impact resistant. The pencil grinder is not designed to hold a cutting wheel. The cutting wheel was rated for an AIR grinder. Well the wheel got jammed and shattered. It was only 1/8th inch thick. A section flew up and smashed right through the clear cover lens and into his eye. His eye was splattered. No way to even think of saving it. If he had used the tool with the cutting wheel it could not of happened. If he hadn't removed the guard the chances of this improper use to injure him would of been much lower. If he had been wearing ANSI safety glasses most likely his eye would of been saved. If had used an ANSI cover lens perhaps he would of only been startled. If, if, if, if, if. If he had followed ALL safety rules he would certainly never of been injured at all.
If ifs and buts were candy and nuts, we'd all have a merry christmas.

Shit, I'm surprised he lived. I mean, all his meat ropes hanging out.
