Re: 22 Week Abortion

What about the baby's body within the mother's? Seems infants have no rights until birth. That's what confuses me in all this. "The woman's body" - there's another one inside! Rape is the ultimate stigma, I agree. I read about remarkable women who went through with the pregnancy and kept the child. Wow! One lady gave the baby up for immediate adoption. As for severe medical deformities or threat to mum's life, I feel termination is medically necessary. A lot of the aborted healthy babies I saw were from healthy women who didn't want them. Just so happened that the late one was from a junkie.

Re: 22 Week Abortion

:/ Even though I am and will always be pro-choice, I also believe the age limit of the fetus/baby (whatever term makes you more comfortable) needs to be reduced. Kudos for sharing, I would've needed counseling too. You aren't alone in feeling that way...
It's not legal after 12 weeks. Anyone doing abortions on a fetus at 22 weeks needs to be jailed. And I'm pro choice as well

Re: 22 Week Abortion

It's not legal after 12 weeks.
UK:
In England and Wales and Scotland, section 1(1) of the Abortion Act 1967 now reads:
Subject to the provisions of this section, a person shall not be guilty of an offence under the law relating to abortion when a pregnancy is terminated by a registered medical practitioner if two registered medical practitioners are of the opinion, formed in good faith -
(a) that the pregnancy has not exceeded its twenty-fourth week and that the continuance of the pregnancy would involve risk, greater than if the pregnancy were terminated, of injury to the physical or mental health of the pregnant woman or any existing children of her family; or
(b) that the termination of the pregnancy is necessary to prevent grave permanent injury to the physical or mental health of the pregnant woman; or
(c) that the continuance of the pregnancy would involve risk to the life of the pregnant woman, greater than if the pregnancy were terminated
(d) that there is a substantial risk that if the child were born it would suffer from such physical or mental abnormalities as to be seriously handicapped.

Don't know what the laws are elsewhere in the world.

Re: 22 Week Abortion

24 sodding weeks is far too late in my opinion. If you don't know by week 24 that you don't want to be pregnant any more then there is something wrong with you and YOU need terminating.
It just seems so far advanced then and is definitely a baby. To me anyway.
I work with a Korean girl and she told me that in her country your age is counted from the time your mum is pregnant. By the time you are born you are considered the age of 1?!! I though that was weird seeing as you are pregnant for only three quarters of a year and not a whole year, but that is their belief, or so she told me.

Re: 22 Week Abortion

I am pro choice but that is horrible. The tiny little feet that kellyhound posted made me want to crawl under a rock so as to stay the fuck away from all these fuckered up people. The human race is fucked, pure&simple I agree100% if u don't want a child, don't have sex, unfortunately that's not reality&idiots will always do as they please with a lack of regard4anyone or anything if it pleases them.an abortion@22wks sickens me. I do feel(WAY earlier)that sometime its better2have an abortion if that poor child will grow up in a bad home being physically or mentally abused, never get counseling for it&grow up to be a horrible rapist or murderer or whatever. Never this late tho,it should have been done AS SOON AS SHE FOUND OUT or do any of these people think of adoption?? I have4 children-5if you count the one I gave up for adoption when he was born 13 yrs ago.lemme tell you it was HARD but better for him since I was in no way able to care for him@that point in my life&he is so loved&w a great family-it was without a doubt the best choice. Anywhoo just me rambling...

Re: 22 Week Abortion

But late term abortions make me feel angry. Especially when it's not through child deformity or a mothers life is in trouble.
Exactly I'm pro-choice as well but when it gets to picture like this, that's just screwed up. That junkie of mother needs her tubes tied.

Re: 22 Week Abortion

I've said it before and I'll keep saying it: Yes, I am also pro-choice and I agree with Blu on the age limit. The sooner, the better.

This is the actual baby in the pic you're talking about Sharon? Is there no age limit in the UK? Here it's 15 weeks.
I'm sorry you had to see it and go through treatment (which was a very smart thing to do!), but I'm glad the baby was treated with dignity and was at least loved by one human being = YOU!!!!

The baby she posted is not the actual one by the junkie Sharon mentions.
As for the UK laws i posted a link on page 3 about that
