Thinking of all the pain involved I am wondering if they would have been better off dead. At least the guy under the rear of the trailer.

If he's a proper biker, he's asking how bad the bike is, and if it could be ridden home. Ignorance of pain after a crash is a special trait amongst the motorcycling community.
