Young Woman Strangled and Dumped in a Ditch
This adolescent left home around 4 in the afternoon to deliver some perfume to a buyer. Her mother said she had recently been making extra money by doing catalogue sales and deliveries online, principally cosmetics. Her mother did not know the buyer and the girl said it was nearby and she'd be back in less than half an hour. When the girl did not return after an hour, mom got nervous and got some neighbors to help look. After another few, she went to the police and was given the unfortunate news that her daughter's body had just been found by a passing farmer. Her hands were tied behind her back, her mouth was gagged with a plastic bag, and a raffia ribbon was pulled tightly around her neck. She had been strangled to death and left facedown in a shallow ditch not farm from her home. Forensics indicated that she had been dead less than four hours when her corpse was discovered. There was no sign of a struggle in/around the ditch and she was fully clothed. She had also vomited around the bag and urinated herself while being strangled-both vomit and urine were found on her body, but none in the ditch beneath her. Police thus theorized that she was murdered elsewhere and tossed in the ditch hastily to avoid discovery. The autopsy revealed bruising to her genitals and a rape kit was conducted with the results sent to the lab. Police currently believe she was raped prior to death, though it is a bit peculiar that she was fully dressed when discovered, so the sex may have been consensual. When found, her purse, the perfume, and her phone were all missing. Police are canvassing the area looking for witnesses, as they believe the murder happened nearby and that the 'purchase' may have been a lure by someone who knew her and wished her harm. I managed to snag a very lengthy (over one hour) low-res video taken at the discovery of her body. It isn't very good due to the darkness and low resolution, but it is probably one of the more extensive corpse retrieval videos I have ever seen from this area. It won't upload properly (possibly too large), so I am trying a few screenshots from it. You really aren't missing much, though. I think you will be disappointed, but I hope he can post the video anyway. I think their "forensic investigation" would be very similar in quality to my "forensic investigation" of where my cat crapped. (Based on my education at the Columbian School of Criminal Investigation and Plumbing, that is.) But maybe they DO have a professional who knows what they are doing in their police department. It could happen. |

Hideously senseless waste of a young life.....so sad. I'm not shocked she was dressed properly though; have read hundreds of true crime stories of rape and murder and there are times the perpetrator has made the victim bathe and/or re-dress after the assault. In my own mind I imagine the creep is feeling at least some shame and can't stand to look at the victim naked anymore.  |
