Young Woman Shot - Crime of Passion
Last friday night (07/06/13) a 26 years old woman went to the home of another woman, to whom she had been making threats several times. The 26 years old suspected that the other woman had an affair with her husband. Also this time it came to a heated discussion, untill the woman, who was threatened grabbed a .38 caliber revolver and fired three shots of which one hit the deceased in the head and killed her, and another one hit the tank on her motorcycle. The article tells that the bullets were fired in the ground. In that case the woman was killed by a ricocheting bullet. But remember, this is the explanation from the woman who shot. The technicians will no doubt find out, if she is right, but at the time of publishing this didn't seem to be known. The images show the deceased, then the motorbike, the three empty and three full casings from the revolver and at last the woman who fired the gun. There is no alive image of the deceased. As I have said before, I'm totally ignorant when it comes to firearms, but I can't help wondering why the ammunition differs in size? Two of them (one filled, one empty) seem to be shorter than the other four. |

Re: Young Woman Shot - Crime of Passion
The short ones are .38 Special and the long ones are .357 Magnum they can both be fired out of a .357 revolver, .38s are often used for target practice with a .357 as they are cheaper. .38s are really .357 in diameter, the .38 is left over from the old cap & ball days when a .38 ball was cast for a .357 barrel. Neither the lead bullet in the .38 or the hollow point in the .357 will ricochet without some rather extraordinary circumstances, like a very hard smooth surface and a very shallow angle, ground would not do it. |

Re: Young Woman Shot - Crime of Passion
Thank you very much. I also had my doubt about the ricochet and thought that she said so trying to convince the police that she had killed by accident, just intending to scare. She probably doesn't know anything about what is technically possible and just sought an explanation that seemed likely to her and any other layman.
