Body Dysmorphic Disorder. (I've also heard it called 'fun house-mirror syndrome) It's a mental illness that causes the sufferer to see a distorted image of themselves when they look in the mirror, yet don't have any physical impairment effecting their vision. People with BDD see themselves as being grotesquely deformed, and no amount of reassurance from any friend or family member can convince them otherwise, so they try to shut themselves away from the world by hiding in their homes all the time .
