Young Woman Killed in Mysterious Accident

Rather vague and poorly reported incident here in which a beautiful 19 year old woman lost her life.

The known facts are that two vehicles collided around 3 in the morning on a quiet street, waking up the neighborhood. One was a taxi and the other was a private car. Both vehicles lost control after the head-on and the black car smashed into a wall while the taxi spun around several times and then slammed into the front of a dentist's office.

Somewhere in the mix was this 19 year old girl. Even now, 2 weeks after the incident no one seems to know 100% where she fits in.

Several neighbors called police when the crash occurred, but did not leave their homes. Not always safe to do so in Guatemala when hearing loud noises outside.

When the police arrived, the driver of the black car was unconscious and critically wounded in his vehicle. The taxi was empty, the driver having ostensibly fled on foot.

The young woman was lying face down near the sidewalk. She had urinated on herself and her shoes were scattered nearby. There were some minor abrasions to her bare feet, her wallet (a Louis Vuitton knockoff according to Etsu's sharp eye for fashion) was still on her, and she had suffered a visible head wound, likely from impact. The scene responders attempted CPR but could not revive her.

The driver of the private car said he never saw the girl in the mess and his blood test indicated that he was not drunk. It is assumed that the taxi driver was. It is not known if the girl was walking on the sidewalk when the accident occurred, if she was a passenger in the taxi and was ejected during the collision, or if she was a passenger and crawled out of the taxi after suffering injuries and died.

Whatever the case, she's dead, the taxi driver is still in the wind (apparently no union registration down there) and we have some photos, most of which are of banged up cars, but a few also feature the dead girl both during the cpr attempts and after they dropped the sheet on her. Some of the car photos were taken the morning after the accident.
