Not sure what the motivation was as several were given. One article said she failed a grade at school, one said it was a fight with her mother, and one said boyfriend trouble.

Whatever the case, she was spending the night at her grandmother's house and her brother found her in the morning, hanging in the closet.

A few reporters surmised that she may have been murdered by an intruder or family member and the hanging staged. Autopsy and crime scene will help determine that, if course. But to my amateur eye, the protruding tongue, curled fingers, and fairly obvious urine stain running down the inside of her right pajama leg in the first and last photos all lean heavily towards a suicidal hanging in that location and position.
