Young Mother Killed With a Stone in Aguascalientes, Mexico, April 2011
María del Rosario Ruiz García, 21, was killed in the state of Aguascalientes, Mexico, on April 24, 2011. She was a single mother of three children. She suffered repeated blows to the head and chest from a block of stone at a derelict brick structure in an area identified only as Fundadores. A forensic examination found no evidence that she had been raped. Police arrested Cristian Barragán Guerrero on May 6 on suspicion of involvement in the killing and publicly presented him in state custody. He told police that he had been drinking heavily, had argued with Ruiz García over money and dropped the stone on her face after she fell and lost consciousness. His account was a claim made after his arrest and conflicted with the reported evidence of repeated blows. No later charge, trial, conviction or sentence has been established.  ·  · |
