Not so sadly, in many countries, it's our young drug dealers, and the thieves of the future that are being cut down and slaughtered. So it's not like it's a loss.

Messing with the drug trade is the same as playing russian roulette. Except your chances of survival are much lower.

I like how you judge others with essentially no facts. I also see that you can't understand the concept of redemption. "Never send to know for whom the bell tolls."

I'd like to offer a statement on nobody's behalf: They clearly did not resist. |

Why does a mechanic have to make quick decisions? You are making me nervous to fly. |

Things are either Good, meaning they are ready to fly, or they are No Good. There is no middle ground. Kind of OK is still bad. Nearly OK is bad. Anything less than a definite Good, is bad. There is no such thing as a gray area in aviation. And likewise, we make our life decisions about the same way. Because it is correct, and it works. I know a LOT of people who have all kinds of second thoughts about such things as criminals. Maybe they'll reform. Maybe they will redeem themselves. Maybe they'll be better people. They might. But I'd have to SEE ACTUAL EVIDENCE that they are reforming, changing their ways, etc. I'm afraid I hardly ever see that. Something you have to keep in mind, is that evil people are a drain on society. The money used to feed and house them is money that is NOT available for childhood education, food, medical care, etc. THEY ARE STEALING FROM PEOPLE WHO GENUINELY NEED REAL HELP, EVERY DAY THEY ARE ALIVE. A really good case in point is the current mess with the measles epidemic. Because some ignorant, thoughtless people refuse to get vaccinated, the put at risk THOUSANDS of people who CANNOT be vaccinated for medical reasons. People with bad immune systems, people with AIDS, people with cancer undergoing treatment, the elderly, and children less than 1 year old who are physically not ready for vaccinations. I have looked at their arguments. There is NO scientific foundation for believing that vaccines cause autism, cancer, or any other medical condition. NOTHING. Zero. Zilch. Don't tell me that some study showed that there is. There ISN'T. So therefore these people are bad. Just because they have good intentions doesn't mean ANYTHING. Just like in aviation, intentions don't matter. All that matters is the facts. And the facts are just as I have stated them. So for me, it IS just a black and white decision. That is why you don't need to fear flying. Because people like me are making the RIGHT decision, based on the FACTS and science, and NOT on some personal belief, or some opinion, or something we heard somewhere. That is how U.S. aviation became the safest in the world. Let me ask you something. Do you have a lock on your car, because EVERYONE will try and steal it? Nope! You have a lock on your car, because a small minority of individuals have criminal intentions, and will try and steal it. It's like that for nearly every bad thing. Is it because EVERYONE will try and murder you, or rape you, or attack someone you love? NOPE. It's because a TINY group of people have bad intentions. How nice would the world be, if those people were removed? If it was possible to do such a thing, the world would be a far more wonderful place. Life would be truly nice. But that isn't possible. So you can either gray-area everything, or you can make an actual decision that something is either bad, or good. And then act in accordance with those conclusions. My decisions are not based on race, nationality, or anything else. I basically want to know if someone is an asshole, or not. That's a pretty simple decision that anyone can make, if they honestly look at the facts. Assholes come in all colors, from all nations, and from all religions. The idea is to identify them, and let them have as little influence as possible. That requires you to actually think and reason, and come to an honest conclusion. But that honest conclusion will nearly always be correct. When I leave work at the end of the day, I KNOW that the decisions I made are correct, and no one will die because of something I did. I never lay awake at night, rethinking a decision. I sleep very well, because my decisions are correct. No one could be an airplane mechanic if they did not think this way. Sorry for the long sermon. But give it some deep thought. |
