21 year old woman was discovered hanging in her bedroom by her neighbor when he came over looking for the woman's husband. He said that he came into the kitchen through the back door and saw that dinner was all sitting out, only half prepared. He called for his friend's wife and she did not answer, so he got nervous and went looking for her, only to find her dead. He immediately called the police and yelled for another neighbor to come help. The husband was contacted at work and came home as quickly as he could. The neighbor both reported that he could tell she was dead so chose to wait for the cops instead of cutting her down.

Locals at the scene as well as numerous Facebook commenters were alarmed when the photos were posted on a FB messaging group. Because? Yep, you guessed it. Her feet were still on the floor so dozens of them were worried that she had been murdered. The notion of a partial suspension hanging remains a distant and unattainable sense of understanding for the common Indonesian. This issue is brought up in half the hangings I find from there.

She did not leave a note, but after the initial investigation of the scene, police do not suspect foul play. According to the scene report and the visual examination of the responders, the decedent had not been dead very long. No livor mortis nor rigor mortis were noted. Her tongue was protruding and clenched between her teeth. Saliva stains were noted on her chin and on the chest of her shirt. She had also lost control of her bladder and bowels while asphyxiating, as the presence of urine and feces were both noted in her underpants.

Addendum: After much labor, I have identified her FB account and updated the post with some antemortem images. The Indonesians often make FB tracking difficult by using variations on their real names. Only her first name was disclosed, but I had her husband's last name (well, four different spellings of it anyway) and went through about 2 dozen FB profiles trying to find his. Finally found it a likely candidate and then confirmed the match by matching up the windows and door frames in some of the atemortems with the ones shown in the photos and video from her hanging. Enjoy.

Interesting that the responders noted no livor mortis. To my untrained eye it looks like livor mortis in the hands and feet.

Yeah, I felt like her feet were probably in shadow but it looked like it on her hands to me. I may have mistranslated. The guy I was talking to said basically 'no blotching' on the skin, but maybe he meant there were no bruises (as in signs of violence). Indonesian is tough sometimes, especially for a dumb white man.

I'd still reckon she hasn't been there overly long, though.

I thought the feet might be in shadow too but the hands definitely have a graduated look about them that suggests livor.

No formal statement with regard to motive.

Motive is usually mentioned in suicide cases there, but nothing in this one. I referenced four different news articles, the official scene report, and talked with one of the responders as well as translated about 300 or so posts from people local to the area in discussion groups. One person from their neighborhood speculated that their business (some sort of mail order clothing schtick) was failing and the family was under economic pressure. Most neighbors were too busy commenting on it being a murder-cover-up due to her feet being on the floor to actually debate about the whys and wherefores.

I did get that she was the guy's second wife, though there wasn't a big age gap between the couple. But that point was brought up more in a sense if identifying her than as being linked in any way to her death.
