Re: Young Filipino Woman Shot in Head During Robbery Attempt

In Filipinas you never can be sure she's a woman.
I think you're thinking of Thailand. While lady-boys do exist in the Philippines, they're nowhere as prevalent as compared to Thailand.

Most robberies happen at night there. You don't walk alone because life has no value there. My hubby once told me you should keep a certain amount of money in your wallet or they will kill you for wasting their time.

That is most generally true around here. when you roam around here, its better not to put all your money and things in one place. but it is also better to let them have at least a bit to make them do what they just really want to do in the first place. get some money off you. most of the robbers who lurks in dark alleys here are usually intoxicated or high at the time. (that is referring to those who were caught and interviewed on live media). getting nothing enrages them. even i do it. when i have to get off the car and walk strange streets, i kept two wallets in my purse bag. one contains a bit of cash, some old ID's and discount cards. making it look like a legit day to day wallet, while i hide my real wallet elsewhere in my person.

Re: Young Filipino Woman Shot in Head During Robbery Attempt

She's Rhem Pedrano. The Resort and Casino she worked for (Solaire) have a bit of tie up with the company im working for in form of telecommunication deals(we supply them with PABX, 2way Radios, Mobile Phones and security devices). But she used to be the Desk Information Officer when i was managing their account with us a few years back.

She was a nice and amiable lady. Sad to find her here.
OK, this is interesting and unique: you actually knew her, XybertroniX? Wow....

Re: Young Filipino Woman Shot in Head During Robbery Attempt

it isn't really the right place for laughing, but listening to tagalog is funny to a westerner

the way they swap from tagalog to english and back again without breaking stride is very impressive

They do, I think they didn't have time to developed their own Tagalog expression for a lot of new things since their society was pushed to the modern time so rapidly. So they simply adopted some English expressions to catch up. The same thing as Japanese. For them, there's no swapping, they're speaking their own Tagalog/Japanese all the way. That's why it always sounds so smoothly. Just like when we say "Saki", "Sushi", "Tofu", "Dim-sum" they're no longer Japanese/Chinese words, they're basically adopted English words.

Wow, I know there're dangerous places in this planet somewhere. But directly hearing it from someone's real life experience, it is so sad. I hate psycho criminals, although I do hope some day the only criminals left in this world are psychos, instead of someone's way to make a living.

Just by sight, nods, hellos and some exchange of words when we used to go there to deliver or check on some of our products that needs repairs.
