I'm confused; who was driving the car? The term 'male driver' makes it sound like he was the one driving the car, but the large swaths of his clothing wrapped around the tire well on the bike make that seem unlikely, and she was clearly wearing a helmet, so unless she had a preexisting phobia of airbags damaging her head she wouldn't be the one behind the wheel either, so does that mean the driver survived the crash  |

One drives a motorcycle as well as a car. There is not a unique verb to denote that it was a car driver. The OP could have been more clear and said the motorcycle driver but from the wounds that the male sustained + the female being listed as a passenger makes me think that without a doubt this is the driver. ;)

More like this is why you don't ride on the back of some dude that was probably trying to impress. I feel sorry for that gal. It's really scary being on a motorcycle when you're not the one driving it.
