This young couple (28 and 29) were abducted shortly after leaving their home city for a vacation.

They never reached their destination and after 24 hours a ransom notice was delivered to their families ordering a payoff of 5 million pesos. The families could not afford the ransom and tried to negotiate, but the kidnappers would not reduce their asking price.

Edit:News sources differ on whether the ransom was paid, paid late, or not paid at all. Whatever the case, the pair certainly ended up dead.

They held the couple for several days and then suffocated them to death before leaving them, their faces still smothered with tape, on a public street. Both corpses were barefoot.

A 'narcomensaje' was left with the bodies, but it seemed to be more of a generalized message than a specific one. It is unknown whether the two had criminal connections. The young man worked on an oil drilling platform and the girl was a student.

The young man's trousers were partially lowered, whether by design or as his body was being dragged. The woman's jeans were not lowered or undone, however.

Ehhhhh, most of these Cartel siccarios are pretty salty dogs. They're used to chopping off heads, dismemberment, and extracting organs from living bodies. I rather doubt they'd be surprised or put off by some wet/dirty panties after an asphyxiation.

More likely, in my opinion, that his trousers just slipped down while they were dragging him into position. The Cartels do often 'de-pants' their kills in order to humiliate them, but they rarely leave them the benefit of the tighty whities, so I'm not at all sure it was deliberate. Though I will note that he seems to have managed not to piss in his. :P
