At 10.25am on 19th December 2017, 22 year old Na Sun Sarom committed suicide. She hanged herself in her bedroom, in Vien Village.

She was a 'professional Karaoke employee' but she thought that her 'inappropriate' work would upset her family + boyfriend. Her suicide note states that she wasn't good enough for the family + was an embarrassment.

'Karaoke worker' in this context is a Cambodian euphemism for a sex escort/prostitute, btw. You'll see it pop up fairly frequently if you're searching in Khmer. They use the phrase 'Karaoke Guide' as well.
