A Victorian woman who moved to Perth last year has died in Cambodia during a flash flood.

K. B., 24, who has been backpacking through Asia since last month, drowned near Kampot at the weekend. Her family are believed to be flying to Cambodia.

Her body was found in the waterways at the Arcadia Backpackers accommodation, 7km upstream from Kampot.

A Go Fund Me Page set up to help bring her body home and fund her funeral has raised almost $20,000 in 11 hours.

Ms B. had flown from Perth to Bangkok on July 26 for an extended holiday travelling across South-East Asia.

She told family she was going to stay in Asia until she ran out of money, and was hoping to be away for a number of months.

Tributes are flowing for Ms B., who was backpacking through Asia since late July.

“K. to know I’ll never get to see you again breaks my heart, I’m so grateful for the memories we shared , your (sic) the sister I never had and I’ll miss you more then (sic) I can put into words,” friend Alice Young wrote on Facebook.

“You always knew how to make someone smile,” another friend Patrick Monaghan posted on Facebook.

“Always wanted to chat and laugh.

“You will have a everlasting impression on everyone you met.”

Lucinda Evans, who shared 20 years of friendship with Ms B., also paid tribute to her on Facebook.

“I’ll never forget you or your infectious smile,” she posted.

“I only wish I could have had one last day at the beach with you ... I only wish I could have said goodbye.”

Friend Alirra Rose Rolfe described Ms B. as a “free-spirited, beautiful girl”.

“The hardest part of any friendship is when its time to say goodbye,” she wrote.

“Thank you for the endless memories and for bringing nothing but love and laughter everywhere you went.

“You’ve taken a part of each of our hearts with you.”
