Yet Another Ridiculous Cambodian Hanger
I come across about 2 dozen hangings a week in my searches, sometimes more. These days many of them are Cambodian. I've encountered just about every ludicrous reason one can imagine for people strangling themselves to death, but this one just about tops them all.  Teenage girl who lived with her grandmother was supposed to help with the housework. Instead, she bailed and went out with friends. When she returned, her grandmother rebuked and spanked her in front of her friends for running off without doing her house chores. An hour later grandmother finds that she has hung herself in shame. Wow. It's hard to dredge up much sympathy, tbh. You see or hear about people going through the most horrific shit and overcoming their problems, & then here's this chick who offs herself over a granny spanking. It just boggles my mind.  |

Even worse is when you use one kid to humiliate a sibling, e.g., by having the younger sibling inflict corporal punishment on the older while restraining him. That stuff has long term consequences. It will be difficult for them to have a decent relationship later on in life, even as adults.

I admit, the couple times I have spanked my kids, and I mean couple, I have felt so awful after. But I never felt like killing myself over it, and i'm not all there in the head. I think this is more of a "fuck you, I'm sick of you" suicide rather than regret for the spanking.
