I remember being a small kid and seeing older men around who were missing legs,arms.A couple who were disfigured badly.my grandfather told me they were in the war with him(ww2)
said he knew he was super lucky to come back and in one piece.He was one of onbly 6 in his whole company to survive the war.The guys that were killed didn't bother him so bad.But seeing other guys like him crippled for life,burned horribly and all.that often got to him.

In the outcome, they were lucky. One of the previous remarks was exactly right when they quipped about war being a good teacher. Many limbs and lives are saved because of the war classroom. I have trouble going through metal detectors.
