WW1! These images always haunt me. My great grandad served with the IRISH FUSILLIERS at the battle of the SOMME! He was SHOT in the head ,by a german SNIPER! And SURVIVED! We all owe these men are thanks! Thanks for our freedom! We all take for granted! LEST WE FORGET ! |

Well said hun  ANd your grandad was a tough cookie!Makes you wonder though if they would of bothered for how the world is ending up in some places. Like over here, they fought for a country that basically is no longer ours. |

Great post because thousands images of World war I in historybooks never show the horrific and painful reality of war...reality behind glory and nationalism...
