Re: Worker Trapped in Pit for 2 Hours Dies
I don't know much about rescuing people but that didn't look like a very difficult rescue to me. I'm really surprised that they weren't able to get the poor guy out of there before he suffocated. Man,,, suffocation, ever since I was a child that's been the one manner of death that I am truly afraid to die by. Back when I was around 5 or 6yrs old my cousins and I were playing outside near my home when I wandered off by myself into a neighbors yard. At the time he had quite a few cars in his yard which he would fix up and resale. I noticed that one of the car's trunk was open, and for whatever reason I decided to climb in. Then deciding I was going to hide from my cousins for a little while and pulled the trunk closed with me inside. After just a couple of minutes I changed my mind and pushed on the trunk to open but the latch which I had no idea about had locked when I pulled it closed. It was a small trunk and it quickly got very hot and hard to breathe. I began panicking, yelling for help and kicking at the trunk trying to open it, but it did no good and only increased my feeling of panic. I couldn't breathe and I knew I was going to die. My family began searching for me after my cousins told our parents they didn't know where I was. At some point I had passed out and was found by my neighbor when he noticed the trunk was closed about 3 hours after I climbed in it. When he opened the trunk he said that he thought I was dead due to my lips being blue and my eyes being half opened with no response what so ever. I only regained consciousness in the hospital many hours later. My toes and fingers where completely numb and my feet and hands felt like a million needles were jabbing them all over. The doctor said I was lucky I didn't suffocate or end up with brain damage. Ever since then I had the greatest fear of suffocating and would rather die than go through the sheer terror of not being able to breathe again. ( Don't know why I just left this long ass comment, boredom I guess |
