Worker Trapped in Pit for 2 Hours Dies
Worker Trapped in Pit, Dead After 2-Hour Fruitless Rescue September 9, at about 2:35pm, among the streets in the west of Zhejiang Wenling City, at a construction site at the intersection of Jiulong Avenue and Huanhu Road, a man working slipped into a pit and found himself trapped unable to budge. 2 hours into rescue efforts, the trapped man ultimately died after the mud/silt collapsed from underground water seeping into the pit. Yes, he was: the rescue operations lasted for about two hours, when he was finally pulled out (third from last photo) he had already lost all sign of life. It wasn't an easy situation thought, any wrong movement could have caused the collapse (which eventually occurred) since it was a layer of silt. If he was already secured with the rope tied to the digger maybe it would have worked, otherwise not, it would have only brought forward the collapse of the layer of silt, kiling him in a very shorter lapse of time. |
