Yeah i am a machinist and have seen these pictures before. Its not that bad until you actually understand the power these machines have.

It spins a piece of material really fast so you can grind it down with another tool. Prob got his sleeve caught which sucked him into the machine and ground him up.

Yeah he was pulled in by loose clothing become attached. As some one else noted, a lathe has tremendous torque. He had no chance.
