A 29-year-old woman, Rose G., was beaten to death with a hammer by her ex-husband on Monday morning.

According to preliminary information, the victim had taken her seven-year-old son to school and gone to the gym. Upon returning home, she was reportedly tied up and gagged by her ex-husband, Edenilson da Silva Martins, and struck repeatedly on the head with a hammer. The victim's father was also reportedly tied up and forced to watch his daughter being killed before managing to escape the property and call for help.

Rose and Edenilson had been separated for about four years, and reports indicate that the suspect did not accept the end of the relationship. According to the Civil Police, Edenilson has a criminal record for illegal possession of a firearm and criminal conspiracy. He remains at large.

The two had started the relationship in 2015, but according to family members, she no longer wanted to maintain any connection with her ex-partner especially when the situation changed when Edenilson joined a criminal organization few days earlier. She decided to cut off all contact with him and move on with her own life but, according to a close friend, Edenilson did not accept the end of the relationship as he told he was "crazy about her" and kept trying to maintain some kind of bond with her.
