A woman, identified as 36-year-old Lovely Saintpreux, of Haitian nationality, was killed and partially dismembered in Baní, Dominican Republic, after an argument with her partner, Joel Jean Louis. Her remains were dumped down a ravine, and located by a passerby who walked by the garbage bags and had a look inside.

According to her cousin, Lovely was last seen alive at 9am the previous day, when she went to take her son to Louis. As time passed, the cousin went to the building where Louis supposedly worked and where the son was supposed to be, only to be told that Louis no longer worked there. (Incidentally, this source said that Louis was Lovely's ex-partner, which all other sources didn't seem to clarify.)

The child was found safe elsewhere, and he told police how he had seen Louis forcibly take Lovely. By the time the remains were found, Louis had absconded and remains a fugitive.
