Sofía Velásquez Gutiérrez, 40, died in a car crash at Playa Caldera in Puntarenas province, Costa Rica, at about 5:30 a.m. on February 5, 2023. She was the front-seat passenger in a sedan traveling from Caldera toward Puntarenas when the vehicle left the road and struck an electrical utility pole head-on. She was declared dead at the scene.

The driver, her 37-year-old partner, was treated by the Costa Rican Red Cross and taken to Hospital Monseñor Sanabria in Puntarenas. The impact uprooted the pole, and fallen wiring closed both lanes. Cabling also fell onto a passing van without causing significant damage. Traffic was reduced to one lane later that morning. The Organismo de Investigación Judicial removed Velásquez Gutiérrez's body and took over the investigation. No definitive cause of the crash was published.

I'm a little puzzled. If you look at the accident scene, the car is standing in front of a tiny roadside restaurant, with the tent supports intact, the little flags, intact, and the apparent cooking trailer also in perfect condition and intact. So, what did she run into that destroyed the car that badly? Did she hit one of the little menu boards at the roadside restaurant? Did she hit an orange road safety cone? Attacked by one of those notorious Squirrel Elements?
I need to know.

My guess is that she ran into that pole laying on the ground next to the car.

The article I read said she ran into a trailer then her vehicle struck a pole as well.

Possibly drinking and driving. Looks like she passed out and veered off into oncoming but hit the pole instead rip
