A 40(ish) year old woman was found lying in the grass behind her home with multiple stab wounds, including two directly to the heart. Neighbors say she was an employee of the transit service. Police are currently investigating the murder as a crime of passion and she was estimated to have been dead around 3 hours when discovered.

Have you ever seen a chest x-ray? There are no wounds in the heart. There are several wounds in the left lung. Therefore, so much blood from the nose and mouth.

I was thinking the same thing, for one to aspirate on their own blood, which looks to be the case, the lungs must be punctured. But I’ve only seen this twice in the ER and that was the case, punctured lungs.
