A 35-year-old woman was killed on the evening of Thursday, June 28, 2018, at Condominio Residencial Aeroporto in the Santo Antonio dos Prazeres neighbourhood of Feira de Santana, Bahia, Brazil. An LPG cylinder began leaking while it was being replaced at the apartment block, and a resident shouted that it would explode. Frightened, the woman jumped from the third floor in an attempt to get away.

She hit her head on the corner of an electricity meter during the fall and died at the scene. The cylinder did not explode. The investigating police delegate said she had become terrified, and the incident was regarded as an escape driven by panic rather than suicide. Her fatal injury was head trauma caused by striking the meter, rather than the height of the third-floor fall itself.
