Yea coulda been magnum rounds...high velocity bullets at close range do some damage to the skull.

A 357 could do that, especially in the classic suicide; gun in mouth pointing up. Lot's of energy to dissipate. Are we sure she is a woman, kinda looks like a dude with moobs? Plus this method of suicide is one men prefer.
