Woman, 43, Killed by a Double-Decker Bus in Tin Shui Wai, Hong Kong, 2024
A 43-year-old woman surnamed Liu was run over and killed by a Citybus double-decker at the Tin Kwai Road and Tin Wah Road crossing in Tin Shui Wai, Hong Kong, at about 7:57 p.m. on August 10, 2024. Liu had been standing on the central refuge before falling forward about two meters into the road in front of the route 967X bus. The right-side tire ran over her head, and she died at the scene. Citybus said the bus was moving away on a green light at normal speed when Liu entered its path and the driver braked. The reason for her fall was not established. Her husband said she had no history of fainting and rejected suggestions that she had fainted. Police arrested the 45-year-old driver, surnamed Chan, on suspicion of dangerous driving causing death. News Today A 43-year-old woman surnamed Liu was hit by a city bus at the pedestrian crossing at the junction of Tin Kwai Road and Tin Wah Road in Tin Shui Wai at around 8pm last night. Her head was run over and she died on the spot. After investigation, the police arrested the 45-year-old bus driver on suspicion of "Dangerous Driving Causing Death." It is reported that the deceased was standing on the safety island when she suddenly fell forward about two meters in front of the bus and was run over by the right tire of the approaching bus. |

More News Our news reporter contacted Mr. Zhao, the husband of the deceased woman. He rushed back to Hong Kong from Jiangsu immediately after learning about the incident. He currently does not know the cause of the accident. He said that his wife worked as a clerical worker after immigrating to Hong Kong from China in 2015. She was in good health and had never fainted. No drinking habit. The couple has a 13-year-old daughter who attends a middle school in the district and has excellent grades. |

I get it that she fell at the most opportune time for a suicide, but that's two buses in one. She must have seen it coming. The bus, then death.
