Actually, kudos is not kid's slang. It's a old word. It has been found in English material since the end of the 18th century. Most likely a transliteration of the Greek word "kyddos", praise, renown, glory. It became popular when it started to be used in newspapers in the 1920's. (The disadvantages of being educated in the encyclopedic school and way beyond the reach of one's own intelligence...) |
