Usually autolysis and putrefication occur together. Often times people think putrefication occurs afterwards because, visually, the tissues and organs are liquids farther along in post-mortem. However, the decomposition of proteins can be seen in the abdomen swelling. |

Good post, dying is a process which many do not understand. people do not understand the important job flies do for us. If not for them, we would be waist deep in cadavers... Here are two more examples of livor mortis and rigor mortis. |

Thanks for the images! Death is very taboo and a sensitive subject. Despite humorous posts in response to what we see here on DR, the fact remains that it comes to us all and is very distressing for those who knew the person. |
