Re: What an Embarrassing Way to Die

Alcohol abuse is a terrible predicament indeed. I'm coming up on 2 years sober from the stuff...wouldn't change it for anything.
Im working on 9 months. Congrats on 2 years.
Its definitely seeing things like this that reaffirm my decision to get sober and stay that way.
Very sad.

Re: What an Embarrassing Way to Die

Judging by the way he lived, Christ wasn't at the center of his life.
The fact that you need to say this indicates that Christ isn't in the center of yours.

Re: What an Embarrassing Way to Die

Thanks for the informative post. I know somebody who is going through this situation right now. He first started with it 25 years ago and quit drinking and his liver did come back substantially. He was in good condition until he started drinking again five years ago and destroyed everything again. It's just a waiting game for us all now. There won't be anymore chances for him.

I dig his watch. And that bucket is too small for any serious puking.

Re: What an Embarrassing Way to Die

Father, forgive this man...

For he knows not what he's saying.

That's better. That's more like it. Good boy!

And I'll pray that you find healing for your fractured soul.

Re: What an Embarrassing Way to Die

One of my first deadies was due to oesophageal varices. Blood frigging everywhere, but given contextual social information (living in 'gentlemen's accommodation, long-term alcoholic, his body condition, and accommodation details) it was blindingly easy for us to figure a provisional diagnosis.

His bleed had started slowly, slow enough to present first with malaena, and then as he got worse, haematemesis. The vomiting increased rapidity of oesophageal haemorrhage, and off it went and good night. Just sad. He'd staggered around a good deal at the end, in obvious distress. Poor chap. :(

Re: What an Embarrassing Way to Die

Ughhhh. My dad was an alcoholic and fell and hit his head causing a brain bleed. He was brain dead but still breathing for another 6 hours. It was horrible.
I'm glad I don't drink!
