What Creeps You Out the Most?
What grosses you out/intrigues you the most about a dead body? For me, it's got to be the bloated tongue. Not only does it make the body that much more creepy, but it freaks me out to think your tongue can swell to that size...  · |

When I was still in uniform, my thing was puke, I could not handle puke. I could take my infant son's, but that was about it. My partner at the time, was my near lifelong friend, Chris, he could not deal with shit... We had a female shooting victim, that we had transported to Ben Taub Hospital, in Houston. One of the other units at the scene transported the guy that shot her to the jail intake, and we went to the hospital to try to interview the woman. This woman had been shot 8 times, arms, legs, butt, neck, and face. Most were not really a major problem, being they were through and through wounds. The trauma room Doctors, had her supported in similar supports like at the OBGYN, with their stirrups. Also, most trauma patients get very little, if anything for pain, until it is known just how serious the injuries are and they were not sure with this person, so they had very little pain meds on-board. The docs were probing her through and through wounds, with very long, wooden handled swabs. They also had silver-nitrate on the swab portion. It will cause a chemical type cauterization of the wound channel. It hurts like hell!!! I have been there. They were starting to swab the neck wound, and we were at the foot of the examining table watching. My friend Chris, was dead center and I was a little off to one side. When they started to insert that swab in her neck, she started to moan and groan and tense up. Her moans seemed to be getting a little louder and higher pitched as the swab went in further, like it was leading into a crescendo... and did it ever... she exploded shit, and hit Chris, with shit, five feet away, dead center of his tie(remember when cops wore ties with their uniforms?) and all down the front of his uniform shirt. Holy crap, Chris started to get sick, and started puking everywhere... that was enough to set me off... so he and I were both puking our heads off, and the woman has a giant swab totally through her neck, sticking out on both ends... Never had another night like that again. Not long after, I made Sargent and moved over to the Homicide Division, and I didn't were a uniform at work again, but Chris worked in uniform the rest of his time there.Cabriolet. |
