Re: Vulture Burial - Crazy Sh*t!
The Tibetans do it because it is too hard/rocky AND there is a lack of timber/fuel to make cremation practical. There is also the whole circle of life/giving back because it nourishes animals. There are several ways it can be done (some of which include cutting the body up into various size pieces), but there is religious significance in it being done on a stone slab. It is also common for bones to be smashed up and mixed with barley butter and tea with either yak butter or milk into a paste that the vultures will also eat. Consider it the ultimate "green" way to go. |

Re: Vulture Burial - Crazy Sh*t!
i looked at a program once and this practice of letting the vultures eat your loved ones when they die is still happening today in remote parts of the world i personally feel doing this is a undignified way to respect your dead loved ones how are you supposed to remember the good times you shared with the departed when inthe back of your mind you know some animal is devouring someone you loved. |
