I remember a similar event in Costa Rica, a journalist posted a selfie on FB, in front of the accident scene with all the dead bodies behind him, and he was stating "thank God for my job". People got heated up about it and that guy ended up apologizing.
Don't know what happened to him after that.

Standard practice in many Latin countries where every cop and his cousin and his cousin's cousin all are named the same down to second last names, and where there is no working centralized database of badges. A photo of the chief scene investigator and his badge number is taken to help with any follow-up questions. "No, that's the José Santiago de María de Hostos in Maricao, not Caracas."
