Van and Pickup Collide and Burn on Route 344, 25 Dead, Chon Buri, January 2017
At about 2 p.m. on January 2, 2017, a public passenger van travelling from Chanthaburi to Bangkok crossed the median into opposing traffic and struck a pickup truck head-on on Route 344 in Ban Bueng district, Chon Buri province, Thailand. Both vehicles caught fire. Twenty five people were killed, most by burning: fourteen occupants of the van, including a 3 year old boy, and eleven people in the pickup. Two people survived. Police considered whether a tire blowout or the van driver falling asleep caused the crash, favoring the latter. The collision was Thailand's deadliest individual accident during that year's New Year holiday road safety campaign, and led the prime minister to announce a crackdown on van drivers. |

Iv`e travelled on those mini-vans numerous times and the driving standards are appalling although most of the Thai`s drive like idiots. Maybe it`s an Asian thing?
