I responded once to an accident involving an old Volkswagen van. The front seat passenger, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected but actually survived. The driver, who was wearing a seat belt, was dead in the driver's seat with a very broken neck. After all, that's the nature of an "accident:" from my personal experience, there's really no telling what works and what doesn't in the chaos of a particular accident.
