The people with the strongest opinions about this matter are the least knowledgeable about it. On the one side you have the Trumpists who think the immigrants are flooding across the borders on some kind of Reconquista bent on "replacing" Whitey. On the other, the condescending leftists who repeat fond nothings about "looking for a better life" and imagine they're coming to scrub toilets. Because obviously they're so downtrodden they'd be grateful for such largesse.

México is not the hell scape either of you imagine. Outside of the bad parts of Juárez, Jalisco, etc. people are fine. There are jobs. There is plenty of food. People live in modern houses with plumbing and electricity, send their kids to school and Little League, eat out at restaurants with air conditioning, and just basically live their lives. You're like someone looking at the worst parts of Baltimore or Chicago and applying it to the entire USA. That's completely bogus.

Except that a significant number of the illegal immigrants entering the US through Mexico are Guatemalan, Honduran or Salvadoran nationals (the Northern Triangle).

None of whose home countries are the land of rich and plenty of your 'Mexico of the last 35 years.'

And the number of them entering the US, legally and illegally, is increasing every year while the number of actual Mexican nationals emigrating is decreasing yearly.
