In early April 2017, the naked body of a woman was found floating in a river in Barangay Macabling, Santa Rosa City, Laguna, Philippines. She had stab wounds to various parts of her body. The exact discovery date was not established, and the woman, believed to be between 30 and 40 years old, remained unidentified at the time.

Neighbors said she was from San Pedro City, had been lodging in the barangay and sold chicken near the barangay church. They also said she was separated from her legal husband and living with another partner. Barangay staff suggested jealousy as one possibility, while also raising the possibility of a robbery that ended in rape and killing. Police had not established a motive and were still gathering statements from residents. Because the woman was found unclothed, it could not be determined whether she had been raped. No suspect, arrest, charge or later outcome was reported.

Please don't call it a "crime of passion"-- that makes it sound like love. No. This is a "crime of hatred." Please don't give violent men and women a free pass.
